Seen and Heard at High Point Market

Industry Trends

Half a dozen members of the Wray Ward team visited this month’s High Point Market, the world’s largest furnishings industry trade show. The event brings more than 75,000 people to High Point, N.C. twice a year in April and October.

During our time in High Point, we saw countless new product introductions, heard from industry experts and visited with Wray Ward clients.

Here are highlights from some of our clients featured at High Point Market this month:

  • Crystorama: Crystorama welcomed a great mix of lighting buyers and news media to its showroom. Stella, an all-glass chandelier that combines gold and purple accents, debuted as a showstopper fixture; in fact, Stella was “spotted” by High Point Market Style Spotter, Meredith Heron. Crystorama designer Libby Langdon also said hello; the Libby Langdon for Crystorama Collection will debut at the June Dallas Market, and product will be available in retail for this fall’s High Point Market.
  • Hammary: We visited Hammary’s showroom space and previewed six new collections. The Hammary team talked about how the spring introductions reflect vintage styles yet offer modern conveniences, from hidden storage to generous shelving.
  • Kincaid Furniture: While visiting the Kincaid showroom, we caught up with President Steve Kincaid and took in the solid wood leader’s new collections, Bedford Park and Modern Classics. We loved Bedford Park’s rich hazelnut finish and custom-designed hardware, which looks like two weathered nails bent and melded together, and the sleigh bed upholstered with Sunbrella® fabric. We just couldn’t get enough of Modern Classics, the largest living room collection ever introduced by our friends at Kincaid.
  • Lea Furniture: Walking through Lea’s showroom space, we felt like kids again. The adaptable design of Arrangements, Lea’s spring introduction, makes it versatile enough for almost any age. The full-size, sideways bed includes a drop leaf desk, laptop storage and bookcase with a hidden charging station, so you can work and play where you dream. It made us want to kick off our shoes and kick back with a paperback book.
  • Sunbrella: We visited Furnitureland South, the world’s largest furniture store, for a design presentation by Joe Ruggiero. Joe talked about how his designs are inspired by travel, including new patterns and color ways for his vignettes at Market, as well as the indigo dying process and how Sunbrella replicated it in a performance fabric. Later in the Miles Talbott showroom, Joe shared the five vignettes showcasing his new furniture and fabric offerings. The vignettes, each of which have a distinct style inspired by a location, include Malibu Beach House, London Townhouse, Grand Salon, English Country Cottage and San Francisco Victorian. The fabrics emphasize soft, muted color ways and textural effects.
