Leeds Beckett fine art student to take 'A Step Back' to Leeds's Old Red Bus Station
Leeds-based Alexandra Francis, will showcase her work, entitled ‘A Step Back’, from Friday 26 August to Friday 9 September at the popular multi-purpose venue situated on Vicar Lane.
A promoter of world peace, Alexandra experiments with various art forms, including sculpture, printmaking, performance art, sound art and installations to create individual pieces that explore peace of mind, world peace, and individuality. ‘A Step Back’ will feature original, abstract prints and paintings.
Speaking ahead of the exhibition, Alexandra said: “I have only ever exhibited as part of a group, so to go it alone is quite daunting but very exciting. The exhibition is separate to my course work but I feel the experience of arranging my own show will benefit my studies greatly.”
Rob Jameson, Graphic Designer and Art Director at Champion Up North, the Leeds-based creative company behind the Old Red Bus Station, added: “Champion Up North’s mission is to highlight up-and-coming creative talent across Leeds and the North. We all come from a background in music and arts, so are well aware of how difficult it is to gain enough exposure to make a living from doing something creative. By holding a diverse and ongoing series of exhibitions and events at The Old Red Bus Station we’re able to give artists access to new opportunities, new networks and new audiences, and hopefully increase their visibility.”
The exhibition will also showcase a special feature piece entitled “At the Sea”. For up-to-date information on Alexandra’s work and exhibitions follow her on Facebook @AlexandraFrancis.
