Health & Wellness Therapy

AQUATIC THERAPY POOL DESIGN

Therapy pools are widely used in the healthcare profession for pain relief, enhancing strength and flexibility, and improving balance. The buoyancy of the water makes it easier for the patients to move about and allows them to perform rehabilitative exercises without placing additional stress on joints. Users get the benefit of a gentle form of exercise that can significantly improve their overall quality of life. It is not necessary for the patient to know how to swim to enjoy the benefits of therapy pools.

Therapy pools are typically filled with warm water with a temperature ranging from 86-94°F, depending on the needs of the patient. Warm water facilitates muscle relaxation and improves circulation, while also helping to decrease the patient’s sensitivity to pain. Additionally, warm water enhances balance, trunk stability and body awareness.

THERAPY POOLS MUST BE DESIGNED TO MEET STRINGENT REQUIREMENTS

The requirements and standards of construction for therapy swimming pool design are unlike any other aquatic structure. Therapy pool designers must address the needs of a core group of guests, each of whom have diverse physical ailments such as osteoporosis, arthritis and chronic back pain. Using a company well versed in physical therapy pool design is essential for a smooth creation and construction process.

FEATURED PROJECT – ALLENTOWN HEALTH AND WELLNESS CAMPUS

HEALTH AND WELLNESS THERAPY

At Aquatic Facility Design, our design professionals understand the specific needs of the therapy community. We combine time-tested pool design processes with innovative techniques to create a custom pool that meets your specific health and wellness requirements. Our therapy pools are also aesthetically pleasing, which has a positive impact on the psychological aspects of the healing/rehabilitation process.

Aquatic Facility Design therapy pools are built to last. We implement a segmented constructed process where the pool is built in pieces instead of using one giant slab of concrete. This enables the structure to move and flex, eliminating the development of cracks that can lead to a premature demise.

WE CAN DESIGN SEVERAL TYPES OF THERAPY POOLS

Our completed projects include exercise structures such as lap pools and exercise pools as well as therapy pools. Here, Aquatic Facility Design planned a new physical therapy facility constructed with three separate pools – therapy pool, aquatic exercise pool and a lap pool. The therapy pool was complete with a transfer wall and ADA lift for helping patients into and out of the pool. The aquatic exercise pool was designed with a ramp into the pool to accommodate patients of all mobility ranges. This pool was designed with a sloped floor to allow participants to see the instructor and participate in a water level comfortable to each individual person. The lap pool was put in place so that patients could enjoy walking or swimming laps for the purposes of exercise, training, and therapy.
