Cheerleader shaves head for #Chuckstrong [Photos, video]

Bald is beautiful, especially for two cheerleaders with the Indianapolis Colts.

Colts mascot Blue shaved the heads of cheerleaders Megan M. and Crystal Ann during Sunday's game after Blue and Megan successfully raised $22,670 in support of leukemia research.

Blue issued a challenge on Twitter to the team's cheerleaders, promising to raise $10,000 for leukemia research in support of Coach Chuck Pagano, who has been battling the disease, if one of the girls would shave her head. Megan accepted his challenge.

With the help of a Colts staff member, Blue grabbed the clippers during the third quarter of the Colts 20-13 victory over the Buffalo Bills, shaving off Megan's and Crystal Ann's hair.

Megan told local channel News 8 that her decision was inspired by others in her life who have struggled with the disease.

"I've just had personal experiences with people who have had cancer," she said. "I've had mentors and family members and volunteer at Riley and met little girls who have lost their hair and beat cancer multiple times. Just seeing struggles they went through and how they could overcome that and still have confidence and fight this fight without their hair - they are really my inspiration for doing this."

To help Blue and Megan reach their goal, WTHITV reported, Great Clips locations have pitched in $10 to anyone who offered to shave his or her head too, and more than 800 people volunteered.

The #chuckstrong campaign began earlier this month, with players shaving their heads in an act of solidarity with their coach, who has lost his hair during his fight with leukemia. Pagano is in remission, his oncologist said on November 5.
