The heat wave in the Berks County region could extend through Saturday, marking what would be the fifth consecutive day that temperatures surpass 90 degrees.

Today should be another hot, steamy day with a high temperature of 93 degrees, said John Feerick, senior meteorologist with AccuWeather near State College.

It should also be a dry day, but thunderstorms are expected to move in this weekend, Feerick said.

The high temperature for Saturday is projected to be 90 degrees, which would be the fifth day of the heat wave, Feerick added.

It should be dry in the morning with the thunderstorms coming in the afternoon.

“I think Sunday is the more active day with showers and thunderstorms,” Feerick said.

If the heat wave doesn’t break Saturday, it should Sunday, according to Feerick.

The high temperature is projected to be in the mid-80s, Feerick said.

“We’re back pretty close to average both Sunday and Monday for high temperatures,” he added.

There could be another shower or thunderstorm on Monday, but the heat should be kept at bay in the low 80s from then through Wednesday.

“If the humidity gets kept down, it’ll be pretty nice,” Feerick said.
