Whether you want to spend today boning up on history, chowing down on good food, enjoying live music, watching fireworks or all of the above, there will be plenty to choose from in the area.

Monday through Saturday

  • The Greater Gov. Mifflin League’s annual Community Days festival runs from Monday through Saturday. Monday’s Opening Night Independence Day Spectacular will feature The Uptown Band feat. Erich Cawalla and Jenifer Kinder and the Belle Tones, and the seventh annual photo contest. Tuesday’s entertainment includes the eighth annual bakeoff contest and singer/songwriter Natalia. Wednesday is character night, featuring Slapshot from the Reading Royals and more. Bill Haley Jr. & The Comets will perform. Thursday will include entertainment from BunchaFunk featuring Reggie Brown and the second annual talent show. Friday features the Community Days fourth-annual car cruise and music from the Stephanie Grace Band. The Firecracker 5K Run will kick off at 9 a.m. on Saturday. That evening will feature music from singer/pianist Morgan Konopelski and the New Individuals. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. Hours are 5:30 to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday. www.communitydays.com.

Monday

  • The Hawk Mountain Region Early Ford V-8 Club will hold a car show and flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fleetwood Community Park. Registration, from 9 a.m. to noon, costs $12 for cars and $15 for the flea market. There is no judging. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Keystone Wounded Warriors.
  • The annual Wyomissing Fourth of July Parade begins at 10 a.m., with the theme “Celebrate America!” In addition to the traditional entries, the Reading Fightin Phils will return with the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor and their mascots. The Reading Royals will be in attendance with their mascot, Slapshot, and will unveil a surprise for the upcoming 2016-2017 season. Boy Scout Troop 413 of Wyomissing will celebrate its 100th anniversary. The parade will begin at 1200 Cleveland Ave. and end at the Stone House, 1216 Parkside Drive North, where music will be provided by the Wyomissing Band and the Pretzel City Dixieland Jazz Band. Other activities will include the annual Pie Eating Contest, pony rides, clowns with balloon sculptures, raft and kayak rides in the pond, and the Rubber Ducky Race (which supports the Wyomissing Public Library). Events at the Stone House conclude about 2 p.m. Refreshments provided by community groups will be available for purchase.
  • The Philly Pops Orchestra will perform at 10 a.m. at the Celebration of Freedom Ceremony at Independence Hall in Philadelphia as part of the Wawa Welcome America Festival. The orchestra also will perform at 8:30 p.m. on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Admission for both concerts is free. www.phillypops.org.
  • The Lebanon County Concert Band presents a Concert of Patriotic Music at 5 p.m. at Coleman’s Park Amphitheatre, West Maple Street, Lebanon.
  • Friends of Union Canal Tunnel Park discounted narrated boat tours will be offered from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at 25th Street and Union Canal Drive, Lebanon. Take a tour through the oldest transportation tunnel in the U.S. and enjoy free ice cream. Watch the city’s fireworks afterward. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. www.lebanoncountyhistoricalsociety.org.
  • The Red, White and Blues Concert will be held at 7 p.m. at Reading Public Museum, 500 Museum Road, West Reading. Bring lawn chairs. Fireworks will follow a performance by the James Supra Blues Band. Admission is $10. Register: 610-371-5850, ext. 230. www.readingpublicmuseum.org.
  • (Note: This event has been postponed until Tuesday at 8 p.m.) The Reading Symphony Orchestra will hold its biennial free “Star-Spangled Spectacular” concert at FirstEnergy Stadium, 1900 Centre Ave., Reading, at 8 p.m. The concert, which features the orchestra performing around second base, will include patriotic, light classical and pops music, and performances of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” an Irving Berlin medley and George Gershwin’s “Someone To Watch Over Me” by Metropolitan Opera star Patricia Risley. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items for a food drive benefiting the Greater Berks County Food Bank. The gates will open at 6 p.m., allowing people to enjoy the concessions and bars at the stadium, and a recital by students of the RSO’s Orchestra Zone program. www.readingsymphony.org.
