F12berlinetta pales in comparison to Ferrari’s newest, 770-hp F12tdf supercar

F12tdf

When you’re an Italian supercar maker in the stature of Ferrari, each of your new cars is judged by sheer power and innovative features. By these measures, the newest F12tdf is simply next level.

Oh, and the “tdf” is a nod to “Tour de France,” but not of the Lance Armstrong variety. (More on that later). Sporting stylish curves becoming of LaFerrari and its sibling F12berlinetta, the F12tdf is distinguished thanks to its terrifyingly powerful 6.2-liter 770 hp (780 cv), naturally-aspirated V12 – 30 hp more than the F12berlinetta – that generates 520 lb.-ft. of torque. With specs like that, this Ferrari would make Enzo proud: 0-60 is reached in a blistering 2.9 seconds and the top speed – thank God – is 211 mph.

Ferrari announced it will produce only 799 F12tdf supercars – all but ensuring its price will reach seven figures in no time. Pricing and delivery timetable have yet to be officially announced.

The F12tdf is outfitted with quite an interesting-sounding feature called the Virtual Short Wheelbase, a rear-wheel steering system that Ferrari says “guarantees the steering wheel response times” and provides faster cornering time.

Ferrari styled the F12tdf to rekindle the memories of its wining GT racers in the famed Tour de France endurance race of the ‘50s and ‘60s. The supercar features larger wings, diffusers – and twice the downforce of the F12berlinetta – while weighing in 240 lbs. less than its sibling.

As Jalopnik points out, the motive behind the adjustments and the improvements in the F12tdf appears to be to make the exotic car “more drivable to the well-heeled amateurs… customers Ferrari gracefully calls ‘gentleman drivers.”

In other words, this car can navigate around city streets to stunt on lesser human beings while also hit a professional race track and more than hold its own.

Tesla P90D owners are probably licking their chops as we speak.
