New Police Officer Joins The Ranks At New Canaan PD

The 25-year-old is from Monroe, CT

NEW CANAAN, CT — Robert Rizzitelli, a 25-year-old from Monroe, is the New Canaan Police Department's newest officer. He is scheduled to be sworn in on Dec. 20, according to department officials.

Most recently, Rizzitelli was employed at MEDPATH Partners as a Clinical Recruiter, and prior to that, he played one season of professional baseball for the Whitesands Pupfish in the Pecos League in New Mexico.

A graduate Masuk High School in Monroe, Rizzitelli went on to attend the University of Connecticut and then Pace University, where he majored in English and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

He participated in the September 2017 recruitment process for Entry Level Police Officer with the
New Canaan Police Department, where he was one of 79 candidates who submitted applications for
employment.

"Robert successfully endured an intensive testing and selection process including a written
examination, physical agility testing, interview panel, polygraph, psychological evaluation, background
investigation, medical testing, and Police Commission interview," according to a department release.

Rizzitelli's swearing-in ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the 20th at the Lapham Community Center, and he is scheduled to begin his recruit training on Dec. 29 at the Connecticut Police Academy’s 360th training session in Meriden. The tentative graduation date for that class is June 12, 2018.

After completion of the academy, Robert will undergo a minimum of 400 hours of field training with the New Canaan Police Department before being certified as a Probationary Police Officer.
