    Mastic Vinyl Siding Cleaning Guide

Although Mastic Home Exteriors require very little care and maintenance, there might be some areas that will occasionally need a cleaning.  Areas of your home that are not exposed to rainfall, such as under porches, awnings, overhangs, and eaves will require cleaning more often than the rest of your home.  Here’s what’s recommended for cleaning Mastic vinyl siding*:

    Mastic vinyl siding

Atmospheric Dirt can be easily cleaned from Mastic vinyl siding with a soft-bristled brush and a garden hose.

Heavy Atmospheric Dirt can be cleaned with a soft-bristled brush, a garden hose, and the following solution:  1/3 cup detergent, 2/3 cup trisodium phosphate, and 1 gallon water.

Mildew is not typically seen on siding that is properly maintained, but if you notice black spots of mildew you can clean it with: 1/3 cup detergent, 2/3 cup trisodium phosphate, 1 quart sodium hypochlorite 5% solution and 3 quarts water.

*Do not exceed the recommended concentrations of cleaners. To do so can cause damage to the Products’ surface. Avoid skin and eye contact with the solution, and in all cases follow manufacturer’s instructions for use of cleaning compounds and solutions. Avoid uses of abrasive-type cleaners and strong solvents. Test any cleaner on an inconspicuous area before applying to major areas. To minimize streaking, always clean from the bottom to the top and follow with a rinsing of clear water. Excessive scrubbing is unnecessary and can be harmful to the Products, and may cause undesirable glossy areas over the finish.
