Android 5.0 Lollipop is finally rolling out to HTC's devices just a week after the Taiwanese smartphone maker missed its self-imposed Feb. 1 deadline to release the latest Android version to its devices.

On Twitter, HTC vice president of product management Mo Versi announced that HTC One M8 users subscribing to T-Mobile's network will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update starting on Monday, Feb. 9.

T-Mobile subscribers follow in the footsteps of Sprint customers who have started receiving the update for their HTC One M8 phones on Friday, Feb. 6. As a page on Sprint's support website notes, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the HTC One M8 will bump it to version 4.20.651.10 and includes the removal of Sprint's Lumen toolbar, an app generally considered to be bloatware.

The Sprint update comes a day after an internal document that says Sprint will begin releasing the over-the-air update Friday next week, Feb. 13, was leaked online. Sprint has also started pushing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the LG G3 on Thursday.

On the same day, Versi again took to Twitter to announce that Android 5.0 Lollipop has begun rolling out to developer and unlocked editions of the HTC One M7, so it wasn't a huge surprise when the HTC One M8, which is after all HTC's flagship smartphone, began receiving the updates just a day after.

To check if the over-the-air update has arrived on one's phone, go to the phone's Settings, tap System Updates then HTC Software Update.

HTC previously announced that it will not be able to meet its own 90-day deadline to start rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its devices. On Jan. 30, Versi updated HTC customers about the progress of the company's work on the update, saying that "despite everyone's best efforts," users won't be expecting the over-the-air update as promised.

Versi pointed to issues on Google's end as the reason for the delay and said that HTC was not taking compromises simply to push an update riddled with bugs and problems.

"If you've been following the progress of this rollout you will know that Google has had to address several issues with the release," Versi said. "We are taking every precaution to ensure the rollout is right and we aren't willing to compromise at your expense."
