Welcome back the Lagonda … have you missed her? We bet to a legion of Aston Martin fans worldwide, the news will elicit a smile. Unfortunately, the pictures of the rare Lagonda verification prototype come with the news that it will be a rare species indeed available to only a select few.
The British automaker is eyeing Middle East buyers with a 100-unit revival of its legendary stretch sedan. It will be an invitation-only affair, so to snag one of these requires one to be a known car enthusiast and a big spender.
The lucky few will be getting a carbon body Lagonda built out on Rapide’s VH platform and powered by a monster V-12 6.0-liter engine producing 600 hp. The power means the 8-speed automatic transmission sedan reaches 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds.
Aston Martin has not announced the price. All that is known right now is that the test prototype in Oman will cover some 14,000 miles and go back to the UK for tests before production commences.
