CAA Football Players of the Week -- Sept. 5

RICHMOND, Va. (September 5, 2011) -- CAA Football announced its Player of the Week honorees, Monday, Sept. 5. Four individuals earned honors after showcasing superb efforts in contests played in Week 1 of the 2011 season, including Maine's Trevor Coston, Old Dominion's Antonio Vaughan, Richmond's Cooper Taylor and Towson's Grant Enders.

CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week - Grant Enders, QB, Towson
Enders logged CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading Towson to a 42-3 win over Morgan State to open the 2011 season. The sophomore completed 15-of-19 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. The Millersville, Md., native also rushed six times for 47 yards and a touchdown. Towson's win marked the program's first season-opening victory since 2007, while its 534 yards of total offense were the most since the 2006 season.

CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week - Cooper Taylor, DB, Richmond
Taylor, the CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week, logged 14 tackles in Richmond's 23-21 win at Duke. The junior also made one stop behind the line of scrimmage, batted down a pass and forced a fumble which led to the Spiders' first lead of the game. Richmond's win at Duke marked its third-straight over the Blue Devils. The victory was also CAA Football's 11th win over an FBS/BCS foe in six seasons, five of which have come against Atlantic Coast Conference teams. Taylor and the Richmond defense forced two Duke turnovers and limited the Blue Devils to 2-for-4 on redzone scoring chances.

CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week - Trevor Coston, PR, Maine
Coston averaged 26 yards per punt return Saturday, including a 74-yarder taken to the endzone in the Black Bears' 28-13 win over Bryant to open the 2011 season. The senior recorded 130 punt return yards on five opportunities, while his second-quarter punt return for a touchdown marked the first for Maine since 2007. Coston, the CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week, also hauled in a pair of interceptions on defense for the Black Bears.

CAA Football Rookie of the Week - Antonio Vaughan, WR, Old Dominion
Vaughan finished his Monarch debut, a 41-14 win for Old Dominion over Campbell in the season-opener, with 191 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. The redshirt-freshman hauled in six catches for 97 yards, including a 34-yard second-quarter touchdown pass from Thomas DeMarco. Vaughan later showed his ground skills by scampering 30 yards to paydirt in the third quarter, boosting the ODU lead to 38-7. The CAA Football Rookie of the Week was also effective in the Monarchs' return game posting a 16-yard punt return and two kickoff returns for 48 yards.
